CASE STUDIES:
“Student cried tears of happiness when I called to notify them that the application was successful.”
The client was a single mother of a teenage daughter. They escaped family violence but struggle financially as the mother is unable to work and her only income is the Disability Support Pension. The daughter was unable to home-school when restrictions were introduced as a result of COVID-19 because her laptop was broken and the school was unable to fix it. The Queen’s Fund paid $308.55 for a refurbished laptop from B2C Community IT Computers which was delivered direct to their door.

“The payment of this outstanding account will ensure the family is able to continue to have heating through these winter months, as well as relieving some of the financial strain the family is experiencing.”
The client lost her job as a cleaner as a result of COVID-19 and was unable to access the JobKeeper payment. The Queen’s Fund paid the service charge for Elgas.

“This enables my homeless clients to have a headstart to ensure that their tenancies are best supported and they are less likely to become homeless again. This is especially important during COVID-19 where people are being asked to stay at home.”
The client and her 3 children were made homeless when she escaped family violence. They lived in a local motel while they searched for an affordable rental property to live in. The cost of the motel plus the need to find bond and two weeks rent upfront placed significant financial strain on the client. The Queen’s Fund contributed $350 towards her first month’s rent which gave the client the chance to stay on top of her rent payments and sustain her tenancy.
