Next COMMITTEE Meeting : Monday, 18 March
Every January, many women face the financial challenges to send their children back to school. Between January 2018 and January 2019, the Queen's Fund has helped 213 Women and 489 Children in granting $68,143.00.
Over 40% of the mothers we helped needed assistance because of domestic violence. This year we've helped 76% more mothers pay the costs of their children's education
100% OF MONEY DONATED GOES TO THE WOMEN
The Queen's Fund supports single women & children in Victoria who are in distress, crisis or emergency situations.
The Queen’s Fund encourages women to increase their self-worth, skills and knowledge through:
• Short-term emergency relief to alleviate immediate financial crises with rent, medical and household expenses
• Educational grants to increase access to educational opportunities
• Grants which give women a chance to rebuild their lives and nurture their children
We work with social workers, who are in the best position to determine how to help the woman in need. They continue to support her after our emergency relief has been provided to ensure that she gets her life back on track. Our research shows our grants are a targeted and valuable tool for welfare agencies, particularly because we can react quickly to urgent requests.
