SUPPORTING SINGLE WOMEN & CHILDREN IN VICTORIA
Since 1887, The Queen's Fund has been dedicated to supporting single women & children in Victoria who are in distress, crisis, or emergency situations. We are committed to providing them with the necessary resources and assistance to help them overcome their challenges and lead a better life.
OUR HISTORY
At The Queen's Fund, our mission is to empower and uplift single women & children in Victoria through our long-standing history of providing support and assistance. We have been at the forefront of addressing the needs of those in distress, crisis, or emergency situations since 1887. Our commitment to making a difference has driven our work and will continue to guide us in the future.

THE QUEEN’S FUND REMAINS ONE OF VICTORIA’S OLDEST CHARITIES, RUN BY WOMEN FOR WOMEN.
OUR MISSION
The Queen’s Fund empowers Victorian single women and children by providing short-term, emergency financial relief to single women in crisis and distress situations.
In 2021-22, we assisted 1,592 women and 2,010 children in Victoria.
A grant from The Queen’s Fund provides vital breathing space for a woman in crisis. Through emergency grants, we seek to alleviate immediate financial stress by:
-
contributing to the cost of basic necessities, like everyday groceries;
-
providing much-needed funds for the purchase, replacement, or repair of essential household items such as a refrigerator or mattress;
-
assisting with household expenses and bills;
-
assisting with rental costs and arrears;
-
contributing to the costs of outstanding medical bills or essential medications/medical items;
-
assisting with education costs for their children;
-
increasing access to educational opportunities, such as short courses or upskilling opportunities.
WE HELP WHERE OTHERS CANNOT
WE GIVE A CHANCE TO REBUILD THEIR LIVES.
WHAT SETS US APART?
WE COMMIT TO 100% OF THE MONEY DONATED TO THE QUEEN’S FUND GOING TO WOMEN AND CHILDREN IN NEED.
-
We provide short-term emergency relief to alleviate immediate financial stress. In some circumstances, turn-around for approving grants can be as quick as 48 hours.
-
We see each applicant for the whole person they are, working with social workers and referral agencies to ensure that our emergency grant can provide the greatest amount of assistance.
-
No crisis is too big or too small: from rental assistance to helping with the cost of groceries; from ensuring that gas and electricity are not cut off to assisting a woman in purchasing a school uniform for her child; from helping to reduce a utility debt to providing money for a pair of shoes.
-
We offer educational grants to increase women’s access to education and skills-development opportunities.
HOW DO WE ACHIEVE THIS?
-
We work closely with social workers and partners to ensure that grants are going to the greatest area of need in applicants’ lives
-
We work with our commercial partners to provide access to white goods, essential eyewear, discounted groceries, refurbished IT equipment, and debt relief, among other essentials.
-
We work to maintain a community of volunteer members committed to bringing our mission to life.
